What are the foods to avoid in Pregnancy?
As an expecting mother, you would have
probably carried on with your life, happily eating a variety of foods you
enjoy. But as soon as you learned you were pregnant flashing warning signs went
off in your head. Now you would never
want to eat anything that harms you and your baby. Some foods that you might
have been eating regularly before you got pregnant may be harmful at this
stage. So, you need to avoid or cut some of your favorite foods out of your
diet.
Pregnancy
is a time to bond with your child, and as we well know, self-care is very
important during this time. Many physical and emotional changes are occurring
during these 9 months.
Now there are certain foods you know
you need to cut back on or avoid entirely. So what foods are on the
"no" list?
Which Food to AVOID in Pregnancy……1
Cheese
Soft cheeses are less acidic than
hard cheeses and contain more moisture so they provide the ideal environment
for harmful bacteria, like listeria, to grow. Even a mild dose of listeria in
pregnancy can result in a stillbirth or miscarriage.
All Mould-ripened soft cheese, like
·
Brie
·
Camembert
·
Fromager d'Affinois
·
St. Marcellin
·
Pierre Robert
·
Mt. Tam
·
Humboldt Fog
·
Truffle Tremor
·
Bucheron
·
Chevrot
·
Unpasteurized cheeses like some
mozzarella.
· Hard and some pasteurized soft
cheeses are fine as long as they are kept refrigerated.
A soft-ripened cheese has mold
(Penicillium candidum, camemberti or glaucum) added to the milk or sprayed over
the wheel of cheese. This mold creates
the soft, white rind and
also helps the cheese ripen from the
outside in.

spreadable paste. The liver is most commonly used. It may also use ground meat from
other organs. There are many other combinations of other ingredients. Vegetables,

and hence it is not usually fresh. Pate can contain Listeria bacteria which is
harmful to your health and the health of the baby.

Eggs
Soft boiled or raw
eggs: A bacteria
known as Salmonella is found in soft boiled or raw eggs. A pregnant woman is
more vulnerable to food poisoning from Salmonella. Though it does not harm the
baby directly, it may make you seriously ill, thereby harming your baby. You
may experience severe vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, high temperature,
headache, and dehydration if you are infected from these bacteria. This will
also affect the health of the baby.

meat should be cooked thoroughly so there's no trace of pink or blood. Be
particularly careful with poultry, pork, sausages and minced meat, including

completely removed by cooking.

been frozen first as any parasitic worms will be killed by freezing.

Pregnancy, what to eat:
1. Due to the myth that the mother has to eat for two, there is a rapid
built up of weight in the initial months, as the baby is not yet developed completely.
In the first few months, the excess caloric intake needed is very low. Too much
food can lead to weight gain during pregnancy. This weight is very difficult to
lose.
2. To avoid constipation and all the other gastrointestinal troubles, be sure to
consume all beneficial nutrients:
carbohydrates, proteins, good fats, vitamins, minerals and ensure the right
amount of fiber.
3. Choose multi-grain cereal recipes, as each of the cereal like wheat,
rice, and barley…..has its own contribution to the overall health of the body.
The baby is supplied with all the nutrients it requires because of the mix.
4. Consumption of all proteins is important, and its consumption should be
increased a little in the diet for pregnant women. It is preferable that
vegetable proteins are consumed more, as the animal proteins may have traces of
hormones, chemicals, and toxins from the stressed animal. This could pass on to
the baby.
5. Fruit and vegetables ensure greater hydration and a quantity of fiber along
with abundant vitamins and minerals.
6. Also recommended is the
consumption of extra virgin olive oil possibly of biological origin, rich in
oleic acid useful for the healthy and strong growth of the fetus.
The expectant mothers have to worry about guaranteeing themselves and
their children all the beneficial nutrients to ensure that the baby grows
healthy and strong, and they feel fit and full of energy. In pregnancy, it is
more important than ever to follow a healthy and
balanced diet that allows the unborn child to grow and develop
better but also to the mother to avoid excessive weight gain
In short always eat fresh and nutritious food. This means:
avoid leftovers. No processed foods. It is advised to buy
organic and non-GMO produce. An expectant mother
needs to consume pure and easily digestible foods that nourish both the mother
and her baby. Also, cooked food is better than raw during pregnancy, as raw
foods tend to aggravate digestion. Healthy fats should be consumed which can include: organic whole milk, coconut
oil, olive oil, nuts
(almonds, walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts), seeds (sunflower, pumpkin) and avocado.
